Journey from Average student to Gold Medalist 🥇

جہاں قطرے کو ترسایا گیا ہوں وہیں ڈوبا ہوا پایا گیا ہوں حفیظؔ اہل زباں کب مانتے تھے بڑے زوروں سے منوایا گیا ہوں

Well, I knew it wouldnt be my first post announcing that “I am honored or that I am a Gold Medalist” on LinkedIn😅, but I never thought I would also be receiving a Merit Certificate along with my degree.🏅📜

But here I go:

In 2019, I began my undergraduate journey at COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus COMSATS University, Lahore , unsure of my path🤔. I applied for engineering at one university and management at another. My first preference at COMSATS was Computer Science, though it wasnt my desired field. The goal was to get in and secure a scholarship. I can still remember my first day at COMSATS: a guy weighing 110 kg, full of fear and anxiety.😟

In the first week, I started facing the side effects of choosing the wrong field, as I had never studied computers before. When teachers used to ask questions and students replied, I turned around to see their faces and wondered, "How do they know the answers?"🤷

So I decided to survive university. A good point about me is that if I have to do something against my interests and I dont have any other choice, I will try to do my best because, obviously, I have to do it, so why not do it well? 💪If you can resist doing something that goes against your interests, dont do what I did kids😅. Please do some research before applying.📚

Even lemme tell you one incident that can give you better idea 💡 about my knowledge related to computer science. I was preparing my first Assignment on word and I had written proabably 3 pages and suddenlyeverything vanished.😱 I was supposed to press (Ctrl + Z) to undo but bro!! who knew about this? Atleast Ali didn't and I wrote assignment again from scratch. 📝🔄

Before moving further, let me share a piece of poetry that fits me perfectly. (Your "How?" will be answered as you proceed)🎭📜

جہاں قطرے کو ترسایا گیا ہوں
وہیں ڈوبا ہوا پایا گیا ہوں
حفیظؔ اہل زباں کب مانتے تھے
بڑے زوروں سے منوایا گیا ہوں

With hard work and determination,🤝 I managed a 3.74 CGPA in semester 1 and earned a full HEC scholarship🎓. COVID-19 hit during semester 2, and my CGPA suffered, but I persevered. By semester 5, By semester 5, when universities reopened physically, I returned with a CGPA of 3.51 📉 but with a weight of 74kg.🏋️

There was no gold medal🏅 in the mix because some misplaced rumors had already ruined the impression of that achievement:

Oh, Gold Medalists dont get hired because people always perceive them to be overqualified.

It didnt make sense then and it doesnt make sense now either. I always try to give value to my team.💼🌟

But yes, I never aimed for it afterwards just to stay on the safe side🌟. Allah had blessed me with a substantial amount of achievements throughout my academic journey, and I was well-satisfied with those.🙏✨ For instance, I secured first position in the FYP competition,🏆 which was supervised by the highly sought-after Dr. Usama Ijaz Bajwa . Additionally, I achieved second position in the FYP poster competition.🥈 These achievements cant be possible without Mohammad Wahaj Tariq .🙌👏

Not having a gold medal 🏅 wouldn't put a dent in that streak, but people started to consider me in semester 7.🌟

I stand corrected now.💪

Having to hold this after four years of consistent work, a three-hour combined commute to the university and back, stress-filled nights, and lost friends, I can say that I have earned it.🏅

I can say that I do love💖 holding the fruit of my hard work.🕊️It does put weight on my winning streak. It completes the well of blessings Allah has always showered me with,🙏🌟 and I cannot express the amount of gratitude I have for Him because no amount of words could ever cover that gratitude. He has blessed me more than I ever asked, and that itself is a blessing.🥰✨

But yes, here I am, breaking all those stereotypes and miscalculated rumors:🚀

This gold medal🏅 does not make me an overqualified person.

But this gold medal🏅 will tell you all the stories about how many times obstacles hindered me, but I persevered nevertheless.💪🌟🔥

  • It will tell you about my tears and my courage.😢🔥

  • It will tell you of my determination.🎯

  • It will tell you of the many things I lost but also the many things I gained.

And hopefully - I pray - it will tell you to do the same and motivate you in a similar manner that this medal has done for me.🌟🙏💫

Once, my teacher Amna Nisar at university said, “Ali, you are the person who started from zero and reached here.” Always try to serve society. Always try to eradicate issues for upcoming people that you have faced in your journey. 🌟And I took it seriously enough that I opened my door to everyone. 🚪🤝

I can still recall the laughing faces saying, “Now you are going to motivate people?”😅

Yes, guys, I am doing it, and I am trying my best.💪✨

I would count this achievement in my list.In a recent FYP competition, I mentored one FYP group that got third position.🥉👏 I can still remember the worried faces of Roha Areej , Zoya Saleem , and Maryam Ijaz on first meeting, but yes, guys, we made it.🌟

Thank you to all who consider me especially Zohaib Farooq , Minahil Rana , Areej sohail Hussnain Naveed .🙏💖

For those who can’t reach me for any reason, I am uploading my unpopular opinions and experiences on this link to purely assist people.💡 The upcoming series is regarding FYP, which is a critical part of university life. For this, I am in contact with Fawad Ahmad and MUHAMMAD AWAIS , who share the same mission to assist and serve people.🤝

I owe great gratitude to my parents💖 ,all teachers

Suno,
Na likhna kabhi Tum mere rang Roop chaal k baray main,
Tum likhna to likhna mere khuawb meri udaan k baray main..
Na rakhna mujhe kabhi band Kamran main mehfoz,
Tum likhna to likhna mere khule asmaan k baray main...

Peace out. ✌️🥂
